The film follows a small group travelling between shrines, rituals and teachings as lived experience. Yasmin Kamal is a British Egyptian director and producer working across the UK, Middle East and North Africa. With over 15 years’ experience in character-led documentary, she has worked in politically sensitive and difficult-to-access environments, developing films through trust, research and close collaboration.
Her work explores the intersection of social, political and cultural life through intimate, character-led stories. This approach is informed by her study of film and long collaboration with Youssef Chahine’s Misr International Films, where an auteur-driven tradition of cinema helped shape her own work.
Credits include the Academy Award-nominated and Emmy-winning documentary The Square, alongside work for Channel 4, BBC, Al Jazeera English, National Geographic and Netflix.

Her career in film and television has been marked by significant contributions to award-winning projects, including the acclaimed Academy Award nominated and Emmy award-winning film, "The Square."
Driven by a passion for captivating and thought-provoking narratives with social, political and historical significance, Yasmin is experienced in producing top-tier documentaries and unscripted series for prominent platforms such as Netflix, the BBC, National Geographic among other networks and production companies.
Currently, she is particularly focused on current affairs and undertaking social and cultural projects aimed at creating a positive impact that can strengthen understanding of communities through the art of storytelling.
